Summary
- Centwise is a calculator: results are only as accurate as the prices and quantities you type.
- The currency shown is a label. The app never converts between currencies.
- No account, no payments, no ads. All features are available to everyone who installs the app.
- Your lists and comparisons are yours. The app, its name and design are ours.
- Nothing here limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
1. Acceptance
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and KLOV TOV ("we", "us"), 18/7 of. 505, vul. Henerala Almazova, Kyiv, 01133, Ukraine, about the Centwise Android app (the "app"). By installing or using the app you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install the app, or uninstall it.
The Privacy Policy explains how the app handles data and is part of these Terms. Google Play's own terms also apply to downloading the app from Google Play.
2. What the app does
The app does two things, entirely on your device:
- Unit-price comparison. You enter between two and six options, each with a price, a quantity and a unit. The app converts the quantities to a common base (for example 100 g, 1 kg, 1 litre, 1 piece or 1 metre), calculates the price per base unit, highlights the cheapest option and shows the percentage difference for the others. You can save comparisons to a local History and reopen them.
- Shopping lists. You create lists of items with quantities and estimated prices, check items off, see a running total and the number of checked items, and share a list as plain text through the Android share sheet.
The app works offline. It does not download prices, product information or exchange rates, and it has no account system. We may improve, change or discontinue features in future versions; the app keeps working as installed.
3. Limitations you should know
Results depend on what you type. The app has no way to verify a price, quantity or unit. A typo (3.29 instead of 32.9, grams instead of kilograms, a pack of 6 counted as 1) produces a wrong verdict. Always check the input against the label before relying on the result, especially for large purchases.
- Currency is a label, not a conversion. The currency code shown next to prices (for example "EUR", "USD", "TRY") comes from your device's language and region settings or from your choice in Settings. The app treats all amounts in a comparison or list as if they were in the same currency and never converts between currencies or applies exchange rates. Mixing currencies in one comparison gives a meaningless result.
- Unit conversions use standard definitions (for example 1 lb = 453.592 g, 1 US fl oz = 29.5735 ml, 1 UK fl oz = 28.4131 ml, 1 ft = 30.48 cm). Package labels, regional customs and legal definitions may differ; if a label uses a different convention, the result will too.
- Rounding. Unit prices are calculated with full precision and displayed rounded (normally to two decimals, three when below 0.10). Two options that look equal on screen may differ slightly; the app ranks them by the unrounded value.
- Estimated totals are estimates. List totals add up the prices you entered, multiplied by quantities. They do not account for taxes, deposits, multi-buy pricing, loyalty pricing or price changes at the till.
- Not advice. The app provides arithmetic, not financial, nutritional, legal or purchasing advice. Cheapest per unit is not always the best choice for you.
- Your device is the only copy. Lists, comparisons and History are stored only on your device (and in your own Android backup, if you have enabled it). If your device is lost, reset or the app is uninstalled, that data is gone and we cannot restore it.
4. Acceptable use
You may use the app for personal and business purposes on any Android device you control. You must not:
- use the app in a way that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly allows it despite this restriction (for example to achieve interoperability under the EU Software Directive);
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or licence notices in the app;
- redistribute, sell, rent or sublicense the app, or present it as your own.
The app has no online service, API or servers, so there is nothing to overload, scrape or attack.
5. Intellectual property
The app, its source code, design, graphics, the Centwise name and logo are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on Android devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and Google Play's terms.
Your content stays yours. Everything you enter into the app — option names, prices, lists, items — belongs to you. We claim no rights to it, and we never receive it.
6. Open-source notices
The app is built with Android Jetpack and Kotlin libraries published under the Apache License 2.0, and uses the typefaces Archivo Black and DM Sans, both licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The full list of components and licence texts is available in the app under Settings → About → Licences. Those licences apply to the respective components; nothing in these Terms restricts rights granted by them.
7. Warranties and limitation of liability
We make the app available with reasonable skill and care, and we will fix reported defects where we reasonably can. Beyond what mandatory law requires, the app is provided "as is": we do not promise that it will be error-free, that calculations will suit your particular purpose, or that it will be available or compatible with every device or Android version.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by inaccurate input, by relying on a result without checking it, by loss of data stored on your device, or by changes to Android or Google Play outside our control. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the extent allowed by law.
Consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law, including the statutory guarantees for digital content under EU consumer law and your national law, or our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, gross negligence or intent.
8. Termination
You can end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the app. We may end your licence if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 3, 5, 7, 10 and anything else that by its nature should survive continue to apply after termination. Since all data is on your device, uninstalling also deletes it — see Delete your data.
9. Changes to the app or these Terms
We may update these Terms when the app changes or the law requires it. The current version, with its effective date, is always at centwise.edgeembark.site/terms. Material changes will be announced in the app's release notes on Google Play before they take effect. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply; if you do not agree with a change, uninstall the app.
10. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of the country where the publisher is registered, and disputes are subject to the courts of Ukraine. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr; we are not obliged and do not undertake to take part in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board, but we will always try to resolve problems directly with you first.
