Summary
- Centwise collects nothing and sends nothing. It has no Internet permission and no server.
- Everything you type (comparisons, lists, settings) is stored in a local database on your device, inside the app's private folder.
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no advertising ID, no location, no contacts, no third-party SDKs.
- The only way your data leaves the device is if you share a list as text or Android backs the app up to your own Google account.
- To delete everything: Settings → Your data → "Delete all data" in the app, uninstall the app, or clear its storage. There is nothing to request from us because we never receive it.
1. Who we are
Centwise (the "app") is published by KLOV TOV ("we", "us"), 18/7 of. 505, vul. Henerala Almazova, Kyiv, 01133, Ukraine. We are the developer of the app and the operator of the website centwise.edgeembark.site.
Contact for anything related to privacy: centwise@edgeembark.site.
2. Scope
This policy describes how the Centwise Android app and this website handle information. It applies to the app as distributed through Google Play and to the pages on centwise.edgeembark.site. It does not cover Google Play, Google Drive backup or any messaging app you may share a list with; those services have their own privacy policies.
This policy is written in English. If it is translated, the English version governs.
3. What the app processes, and where
The app runs entirely on your device. It does not transmit any information to us or to anyone else. The categories below are the only data the app handles, and all of it stays on your device. Because we never receive this data, we cannot see it, use it or disclose it. To the extent the GDPR applies to processing that happens on your own device at your request, the lawful basis is the performance of the agreement under which we provide you the app (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
| Category | What exactly | Why | Where it is kept | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Comparisons | Prices, quantities, units and optional option names you type (for example "Oats, 500 g, 1.89"); the category; the computed unit prices | To calculate and show the cheapest option; to let you reopen a comparison from History | Local database in the app's private storage | Until you clear the comparison, delete the History entry, clear History, use "Delete all data" in Settings, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app |
| Shopping lists | List names, item names, quantities, estimated prices and whether an item is checked off | To keep your lists and compute totals | Local database in the app's private storage | Until you delete the item or the list, use "Delete all data" in Settings, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app |
| Settings | Appearance (system/light/dark), currency code used as a label, default base units, decimal separator, haptics on/off | To remember your preferences | Local preferences file in the app's private storage | Until you change them, use "Delete all data" in Settings, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app |
The app reads your device's language and region setting once to pick a sensible default currency label and decimal separator. This value is not stored separately and is not transmitted.
Information you choose to share
When you tap "Share as text" in a list, the app hands a plain-text copy of that list to the Android share sheet. You then choose the app that receives it (for example a messaging app). From that moment the text is handled by the app you picked, under its own privacy policy. Centwise does not know, record or transmit where you sent it.
Information you send us directly
If you e-mail centwise@edgeembark.site, we receive your e-mail address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR — responding to your request and keeping a record of support conversations). We keep support e-mails for up to 24 months after the conversation ends, then delete them. We do not add you to any mailing list.
4. What is not collected
For clarity, the app does not:
- create or require an account, and never asks for your name, e-mail address or phone number;
- show ads, contain an ad SDK, or read the Android advertising ID;
- contain any analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDK — it includes no third-party SDKs at all, only Android's own AndroidX libraries;
- access your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files, calendar, call log or SMS;
- download prices, product databases or exchange rates;
- connect to the internet for any purpose — the app does not declare the Internet permission, so the operating system blocks any network access;
- use cookies, web views, fingerprinting or any identifier that could be used to recognise you.
In Google Play's Data safety section the app is declared as collecting no data and sharing no data. This policy is consistent with that declaration.
5. Data stored on your device only
Android keeps each app's files in a private sandbox that other apps cannot read. Centwise's database and preferences live in that sandbox. The data is only as safe as your device: protect it with a screen lock if the lists contain anything you consider private.
Android backup
The app allows Android's built-in backup (allowBackup is enabled). This means that if you have device backup turned on in Android settings ("Back up to Google Drive" or your manufacturer's equivalent), Android may copy the app's database and settings into your device backup. That backup is stored in your own Google (or manufacturer) account, is encrypted by Android, and is controlled by Google's or the manufacturer's privacy policy — not by us. We have no access to it.
You can exclude the app from backup by turning off device backup in Android's settings (typically Settings → Google → Backup), and you can delete existing backups from Google Drive (Drive → Backups). Nothing in the app depends on backup being on.
6. Permissions the app asks for
None. The app's manifest declares zero permissions: no Internet, no network state, no storage, no location, no notifications, no vibration. If a future version ever needed a permission, we would update this policy and explain why before asking for it.
7. Third parties and processors
We use no processors for app data, because there is no app data on our side. Two third parties are nonetheless involved in getting the app to you:
- Google Play (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited) distributes the app. When you install or update it, Google processes information about your Google account and device under Google's Privacy Policy. We may see aggregated, non-identifying statistics in the Play Console (such as install counts by country). We do not receive your identity.
- Android Backup (Google LLC, or your device manufacturer's backup service) may store a copy of the app's data in your account if you have backup enabled, as described in section 5. This is a service between you and Google or the manufacturer; we are not a party to it.
This website is a static site with no analytics and no cookies. If it is served through a hosting or content-delivery provider, that provider may log the IP address of requests for security purposes for a short time. See the Cookie Notice.
8. Notifications
The app does not send notifications of any kind and does not request the notification permission.
9. Children
The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children — the app simply has no mechanism to collect it. If you believe a child has sent us personal data by e-mail, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (for example the data protection authority of the country where you live).
Because the app keeps all your data on your own device, you exercise these rights directly in the app, without asking us:
- Access and portability: everything is visible in the app; a list can be exported as plain text with "Share as text".
- Rectification: edit any option, item, list or setting at any time.
- Erasure: delete individual items, lists or History entries, use "Clear history", use Settings → Your data → Delete all data to erase lists, History and settings at once, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. See Delete your data.
For support e-mails, write to centwise@edgeembark.site and we will answer within 30 days (usually within 5 business days).
11. Data deletion
Inside the app, Settings → Your data → Delete all data erases all lists, History and settings from your device at once (one confirmation, "Delete everything?"). Uninstalling the app permanently deletes its database and settings from your device as well. The page Delete your data gives step-by-step instructions, including how to remove a cloud backup of the app. Nothing needs to be requested from us, because we hold no copy.
12. International transfers
We transfer no app data anywhere, because none reaches us. Google Play and Android Backup are operated by Google, which may process data outside the European Economic Area under its own safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses); please refer to Google's policy. Support e-mails are handled by our e-mail provider; if you write to us, your message may be stored on servers in the European Union.
13. Security
The app relies on the Android application sandbox, which isolates its files from other apps, and on your device's screen lock and storage encryption. The app opens no network connections, so there is no transmission to secure. Keep your device and Android up to date.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change the app in a way that affects your data (for example by adding a feature that needs a permission), we will update this policy, raise the version number and effective date at the top, and note the change in the app's release notes before the change takes effect. The current version is always at centwise.edgeembark.site/privacy.
