Summary
- Centwise has no server and no account: all data is on your device.
- Delete single items, lists or History entries inside the app.
- Delete everything at once with Settings → Your data → Delete all data inside the app, or by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage in Android settings. It takes effect immediately.
- If Android backup is on, also delete the app's backup from Google Drive, or turn backup off.
- There is nothing to request from us, because we never receive your data.
1. Where your data is
Everything you enter — comparisons, History, shopping lists and settings — is stored in a local database and a preferences file in the app's private folder on your device. Nothing is uploaded to us or to anyone else. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is stored.
2. Delete parts of your data
All deletions in the app are immediate and permanent (there is no trash or undo).
A comparison you are working on
- Open the Compare tab.
- Tap the × on an option card to remove that option, or tap Clear to empty all options.
A saved comparison in History
- Open the History tab.
- Swipe an entry sideways to delete it, or tap Clear history to delete all saved comparisons.
An item in a shopping list
- Open the Lists tab and tap the list.
- Swipe the item sideways to delete it.
A whole shopping list
- Open the Lists tab.
- Open the list's menu (the "More options" button on the list card) and choose Delete, then confirm "Delete list?" with Delete. The list and all its items are removed.
Settings
Settings (appearance, currency label, default units, decimal separator, haptics) can be changed at any time under the gear icon. They are removed together with everything else when you clear the app's storage or uninstall.
3. Delete everything
Any of the following removes the app's database and settings from your device completely:
Option A — "Delete all data" inside the app
- Tap the Settings gear in the header.
- Scroll to the Your data section and tap Delete all data.
- Confirm the dialog "Delete everything?" with Delete. All lists, History entries and settings are erased at once and the app shows "All data deleted".
Option B — uninstall the app
- Long-press the Centwise icon on your home screen or app drawer and choose Uninstall (or go to Settings → Apps → Centwise → Uninstall).
- Confirm. Android deletes the app together with all of its private data at that moment.
Option C — keep the app, wipe the data from Android settings
- Open Android Settings → Apps → Centwise → Storage & cache (wording varies slightly by manufacturer).
- Tap Clear storage (sometimes "Clear data") and confirm. The app returns to its first-launch state with no lists, comparisons or History.
Timing: all three options take effect immediately. There is no 30-day retention window and no server-side copy to purge, because none exists.
4. Android cloud backup
If you have Android's device backup turned on, Android may have copied the app's data to your own Google account (or your device manufacturer's backup service). Reinstalling the app on a device signed in to the same account may then restore your old lists. To make the deletion complete:
- Turn backup off (optional): Settings → Google → Backup and switch off "Backup by Google One" / "Back up to Google Drive". Manufacturer backups (Samsung Cloud, Xiaomi Cloud, etc.) have their own switch in their own settings.
- Delete the existing backup: open the Google Drive app → menu → Backups, pick your device's backup and delete it; or keep backup on and simply uninstall the app — Android drops an uninstalled app's data from the backup on a schedule set by Google (see Google's Android backup help).
Backups are stored and managed by Google or your device manufacturer under their privacy policies; we have no access to them and cannot delete them for you.
5. What we hold about you (nothing, unless you e-mailed us)
We hold no copy of your app data, so there is nothing for us to delete and no deletion request form. The only personal data we can hold is e-mail correspondence if you have written to centwise@edgeembark.site. If you would like that correspondence deleted, reply to the same thread or send a new e-mail saying so, and we will delete it within 30 days and confirm.
6. Need help?
If a step above does not match what you see on your device (manufacturers rename menus), write to centwise@edgeembark.site with your device model and Android version and we will walk you through it. See the Support page for what to include.
